Midnightsun Cruise
close up to Northcape |
Then the cruise sets course northward till we get about 5-6nautical miles from land. While traveling north there is a big chance to experience both whales and dolphins and other marine animals that inhabit this area of the Artic Circle. As we continue the trip and head east towards North Cape the time should be around 23.55. When we reach the North Cape we will land there and stay approximately 15 minutes for coffee, picture taking and just chatting while the clock ticks down to midnight so you can say you saw the Midnight Sun and the night looks like daytime if the sky is not covered by clouds. On the way back to Gjesvær we go close up to Knivskjelodden, which is the northernmost point in Norway. We should arrive back to Gjesvær at 01.00 am |
At 23.00 the trip starts from Terassen restaurant in a new Rib 680 (21 foot) boat propelled by 150-horse power outboard engine. All the passengers will put on and wear regatta suits to protect them from the weather conditions and the trip over water, which fulfills all the requirements for safety and comfort for the trip onboard the boat.
The trip goes first to Stappan Bird Park and sanctuary where millions of birds live. Participants of this Midnight Sun Cruise will see puffin, razor-billed hawks, common guillemot, white tailed eagle, as well as resident island seals and many other animals that use the island as a home, during the 10-15 minute trip through the park. |
We are introducing a new and exciting adventure during our 2009 season of touring
